Sugar Cookie Recipe

Thursday, February 1, 2018

Just because Christmas is over doesn’t mean my love for sugar cookie baking has stopped. Baked up a batch of heart shape cookies yesterday.  I love soft baked cookies and this recipe is my go-to for a soft sugar cookie. I originally found this recipe on Dimples & Delights blog. These sweet sugary goodness  can be made for any holiday or just when you need to satisfy your cookie craving.

Sugar Cookies:
2 cups butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
5 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp salt

Frosting:
1/2 stick butter, room temperature
4 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2-3 Tb milk
food coloring

Directions:
Cream butter and sugar till fluffy. Add eggs, almond and vanilla extract. Sift flour salt and baking powder. Mix in well and refrigerate dough for 1 hour. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Roll dough on a slightly floured surface. I rolled my dough on parchment paper. Sandwiching the dough between two sheets. This can help you avoid adding to much flour when rolling which can cause the dough to be dry. Cut and bake cookies for 10- 13 minutes.
